Summer Events & Things To Look Forward To
North Valley brought in the New Year with a bang. We celebrated with a pizza/birthday party.
We had a HUGE Valentines Party where we enjoyed steak, baked potatoes, green bean casserole, cake and champagne (sparkling cider). We enjoyed fine dining to the piano playing of Raul Sanchez. After our special lunch we danced to the Victor Chavez Trio who played for 1 hour in our dining room turned dance floor. Also in February we made Valentine cards for our pen pals at Ponderosa Respite, Valentine collages and our own glycerin soap.
We have already begun planting flowers out on our patio. We are waiting for the weather to warm up so our monthly BBQ’s can begin.
This quarter we have shopped at Wal-Mart and Family Dollar, snacked at Dunkin Donuts, visited the Albuquerque Museum, Rio Rancho and Los Volcanes SYC’s. We ordered take out from Long John Silvers, went to Movies 8, Sandia Casino for the buffet and a little gambling, and scenic drives all around Albuquerque. We would like to thank Barelas SYC and Los Volacanes SYC for their visits and joining us for lunch. Several entertainers have also visited us here such as Country Singer Mary, Dave and the Debutants, Frank and Helen, Judy the Mid-Eastern dancer, and Roy McGuiness. North Valley regularly has cooking projects, we play Bingo, and physical games throughout the month. We can’t forget Very Special Arts with Kristen, Music Therapy with Justin, Art Therapy with Eve, and Massage’s with Jim.
We are fortunate to be able to enjoy live music once each week next door at the North Valley Senior Center. Our next big event will be our Cinco De Mayo Fiesta with entertainment by Los Reyes Mariachi’s on May 2nd. All this and more is accomplished with the help of volunteers including Art who visits on a weekly basis.
