Respite Recent Events

We here at Rio Rancho Respite are trying to stay warm, hope you are to. We had a very exciting winter. We have increased our population in our diverse group which makes our program more interesting because the majority of our clients are very vocal and have some very interesting stories to tell.

We have enjoyed several outings to JB’s, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, and Target to enjoy a hot drink. The respite group enjoys having their monthly massage by Jim, and having their hands massaged and nails manicured by our staff. During the month of October we enjoyed sharing ghosts and gobblin stories, had a Halloween dance with the General program and several clients participated in a costume contest on Halloween. For November we tried to stay warm by participating in several physical activities like bowling, indoor golf, table volleyball, and several toss games. We also had a pre-Thanksgiving dance with the Tumbleweeds playing for our clients. They are a group of retired musicians that periodically get together for jam sessions.

The holiday season has brought a lot of joy and happiness to our program. The staff started getting into the holiday spirit towards the end of November and it has brightened the spirits of all the clients. We had several entertainers for the holiday season and as usual the clients enjoyed it because they got to cut the rug. As the year ends we celebrated by having the Belly Dancers come do their thing and had our yearly toast to bring in the New Year.

May you all have a very prosperous, healthy and happy 2008. The Rio Rancho Respite Program
